Follow My Blog Friday – 7/8/11

Happy Friday everyone! The Follow My Book Blog and Blog Hop Friday hosted by Parajunkee's View and Crazy For Books
The first question is: Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?
If a book is bad, I usually don't finish it so I really had to think about this question. I have to say Beowulf, required middle school reading. I know it was supposed to be this epic piece of literature but I hated reading it and discussing it. I could not believe they actually made that awful movie out of it….

The second question is not a question at all but a chance to promote another blogger’s giveaway!
Hop over to New Books for New Bloggers for a chance to win an ARC of Passion by Lauren Kate.
Hop over to Christy at The Reader Bee for her 500 Follower and 6 month Blogoversary Giveaway. She is also giving away a signed copy of The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter!

  2. I think I had to read this too and I hated it. School books were some of the most boring drivel. New follower, have a great weekend.

  8. NC, I totally agree- if I don't like a book, I just stop reading! I also chose a required reading book- A Separate Peace. Gah- that book was torture.

I remember reading Beowulf too. What an awful experience. lol

Also- The Canterberry Tales. Omg, terrible.

I didn't mind Beowulf the story, but you're right -- the movie was horrendous. *shudders*

  11. I actually enjoyed Beowulf, for the language and the story. And our Old English professor was made the interpretation interesting.

    Have a great weekend!

  15. Hi!
My English teacher in high school decided to watch the movie only and skip the book. I wish I can have that wasted time back in my life.

    Have a great weekend.

  17. You had to read Beowulf in Middle School!!! Wow!! We didn't read it till Junior or Senior H.S. English. I liked it but didn't love it. In fact...I barely remember it.

  18. Old follower stopping by! I love the look! Have I missed a layout change? Hmm... looks great though. :)

I'm the same with usually not finishing bad books. I didn't have too many to choose from actually. But then again, I'm just happy about it. I don't wanna spend too much time on a book I don't like!

Hope you have a great weekend! My worst read can be found here.

  19. Hopping through. Oh my gosh...you read Beowulf in middle school? I read it in high school and still wasn't mature enough for it. I'd like to read it again some day.

  21. Hello! Just hopping on by! I thought about a book that I had for required reading back in either Elementary, or Middle School. I can't remember which, but it was James and the Giant Peach. I absolutely could not finish that book to save my life. I don't know why. That's not the book I listed on my blog though. haha.

I'm now following you. Hope to see you around!
